Student Response Systems
Student response systems(S.R.S) or personal/classroom response system are a combination of a handheld hardware and software that permits each student in the classroom to answer a question simultaneously and lets the teacher see and display a summary of results immediately. Which means goodbye to the days where teachers are stuck in the classroom grading papers. This system grades and analysis students' answers so the teacher can help students who are struggling faster.
In this unit in technology, we learned about a popular response system that is on the market called "iRespond". This system is currently being used by Cobb County Schools. This system allows teachers to create quizzes or benchmarks on their easy to use software program. Teachers can also create a quiz by using Microsoft Power point with an iRespond add-on. This type of quiz is called power presentation on iRespond, it makes the quiz look more appealing to the students. Students answer questions, under their PIN (personal identification number) using a remote device. This device sends the student's responses to the teacher's computer after the student has submitted the answer by pushing send on the device. The program than analysis the responses to give the teacher a report. The report states the number of students who answered the questions incorrectly or correctly.
I have created my own iRespond quiz using Power Point with the iRespond add-on. My quiz is for a Second Grade classroom teacher to use after he or she has cover punctuation marks. Please click here to preview the quiz. Click here to view the file as a pdf.
