Podcast
A podcast is a digitized audio file typically resembling a radio broadcast or audio interview that are often saved in MP3 file format; files can then be shared over the internet for playback on the computer or personal media devices. A podcast can be syndicated and subscribed to by online users for automatic download.
A user can make a podcast by user a computer and a microphone. If you do not have a microphone, a neat trick, is to use your headphone as a microphone..The computer must have an audio recording/editing program. Or at least be able to download a program online for free. The audio editing/recording that is available online for free, the one that I use, Audacity.
Podcast are is great multimedia product that can be used to education by teachers and students. Many teachers use this product as a way gather information for assessments of students, to record lecture or mini-lessons. Here is an example of teachers using podcast in their classroom. This website gives teachers tips on how to use the podcast in the classroom.
Podcast are not just for teachers but they are also for students as well. A podcast can help students create book reports. Podcast are safe for students to use and publish because the faces of the students are not being record just their voices. Plus students are not revealing his or her first name. Students may also chose to use a pseudonym. Here is an example of students using podcasts in the classroom.
I have created a podcast that I would most likely use in my future classroom. This podcast is of me teaching a lesson on grammar with punctuation marks. I would give this podcast to students who meeted the lesson material due to being absent. The podcast covers the following standard in a second grade classroom:
ELA2W1 Writing Process The student demonstrates competency in the writing process.
